Collingwood College is working in partnership with the three other secondary schools, Farnborough College of Technology (FCoT) and the two special schools in the local area to provide the very best opportunities for the young people of Surrey Heath through SHAPE.

 

We recognise that we can learn from each other and by working together we can invest time, effort and expertise in curricular and extra curricular projects which will broaden and enrich the experience of students across the borough.

 

Students from Collingwood, Gordon’s, Kings and Tomlinscote are able to participate in SHAPE vocational courses leading to NVQ qualifications and Young Apprenticeship programmes which are planned collaboratively across the partnership.  Students in KS4 can leave the ‘home school’ to attend classes at other institutions in the network on a ‘day release’ or half day basis.

 

Look out for the SHAPE minibus travelling around Surrey Heath.  The vehicle provided by Carwarden House School carries the logo and is available to support the movement of students from home schools to the learning providers.

 

From September 2008 young people in Surrey Heath will be able to sign up for the new Diploma courses as the SHAPE partners have been approved to offer two lines of learning:

 

              Society Health and Development

              IT

 

We will also be offering two further lines of learning from September 2009:

 

              Creative and Digital Media

              Business, Administration and Finance

 

 partners will ensure that within the next five years, every young person in Surrey Heath will be able to choose from any of the 17 proposed Diploma lines of learning and identify a progression pathway  to successful Higher Education and Career opportunities.

 

 supports the broadening of choice for young people as they progress from compulsory education at 16+.  The partners are beginning to tailor timetables so that students can mix and match their programmes of study across institutions in Surrey Heath.
