Welcome to Tomlinscote School and Sixth Form College, one of the Country's pre-eminent Secondary Comprehensive Schools. I hope that you are able to take the time to explore our website in order to appreciate the range and quality of activities and expertise available on site.

Tomlinscote was Surrey's first purpose built comprehensive and came into being in the early 1970's. Since that time the School and College have built and maintained envious reputations for quality, standards and innovation. In the early 1980's Tomlinscote was part of Surrey's first Technical/Vocational initiative, and in '96 it became one of England's first Language Colleges - a truly international school with global links and a range of languages to match, and one which has established a national reputation for bi-lingual teaching. The Language College permeates all aspects of school life.

Tomlinscote represents a well ordered society in which individuals are valued and respected. Students are encouraged to achieve personal bests in all aspects of school life, and our academic and pastoral systems are geared towards this end. Student progress is monitored closely and reported thoroughly, and parents are invited to enter a continuous dialogue concerning their son or daughter. Massive emphasis is placed on matching student performance with student potential. The culture here is one of continuous improvement, individually and institutionally.

Tomlinscote students consistently produce examination results that are substantially above the National and the Surrey averages in both raw grades and in the relatively new concept of value added. A substantial proportion of Year 11 invariably progress into our Sixth Form College with 80% of Year 13 going into Further Education and around 4% annually gaining access to Oxford or Cambridge.

In recent years the courses available within the Sixth Form College have diversified, so that students can now access a very broad range of vocational and academic options, ranging from our nationally acclaimed NVQ Soccer Coaching Course to a wide range of traditional 'A' Levels. Our commitment to students is total. We have very high expectations within a three-cornered partnership - parents, students, School or College - and it is very rare that those expectations are not met. If all this sounds a little intense - well ok, we do work when we work, but we also play when we play! Again, our website will show you some of the numerous activities undertaken by students when they are at play. Tomlinscote is actually a fun place to be!

Taken as a whole, I believe that Tomlinscote is unique, and has an enormous amount to be proud of.
